Cactus

High Light Plant.

There are over 5000 varieties of cactus.  These plants are so distinctive and unusual looking that they add immediate interest to any indoor planting.

Cactus have needles but no leaves and store water in their stems. Succulents can store water in their thick leaves. All cactus are succulents but not all succulents are cactus.

Shown here are (l.to r.) column cactus (cereus peruvianus); pencil cactus (a succulent with poisonous sap--euphorbia tirucalli); and euphorbia  acrurensis, sometimes called "Milk Tree".
