Cardboard Palm
Zamia furfuracea

Low-to-medium light plant.

This is another “prehistoric” plant belonging to the cycad family along with the King Sago Palm. Neither are really palms.

The thick leathery leaves are slightly fuzzy and feel like cardboard or plastic. Because they lack visible leaf veins, the plant has an artificial appearance.

The small stalks that connect the leaf to the stem have very sharp spines! These tough and fascinating plants make excellent accent or container plants.
